Craven Arts Christmas Exhibition

It seems too early to be really thinking about Christmas yet but I've just taken some of my prints to Skipton Town Hall's gallery in preparation for Craven Arts Christmas exhibition. Opening on the 11th November and running until the 23rd December, it's going to be a super exhibition, reflecting the enormous breadth, depth and quality of creative endeavour in the area.  It will be well worth a visit!

THE ILKLEY ART TRAIL 2017

Over 60 artist/designers in over 30 locations, it will be bigger and better than ever before with all sorts of extra events and exhibitions! I will be based at the Manor House. In use as an Art Trail venue for the first time, this beautiful Elizabethan house is well worth a visit in its own right. Along with other new work will be this my latest piece, 'Wild Flower Meadow - Upper Wharfedale', a 16 colour/hue, 40 x 30cm. reduction linoprint.

ILKLEY ART SHOW PRIZE.

The recent Ilkley Art Show was a great success with hundreds and hundreds of visitors enjoying the two day event. Accompanying the trade stands, demonstrations and workshops the show also hosted a large exhibition of a wide variety of artwork. I was fortunate enough to win the 'Best Picture in Show' prize for my reduction lino print, 'Gannets - from Bempton Cliffs'!

I was awarded my prize by Tim Tennant, the organiser of the show and owner of Ilkley's brilliant art shop!

REDUCTION PRINT WORKSHOP

I've started to run a monthly workshop at home for a few friends who are rapidly developing their linoprinting skills -and learning to avoid putting inky rollers down wherever they like , frequently on top of their own prints!

ILKLEY ART SHOW - 2017

I will be giving a demonstration on linoprinting at the King's Hall, Ilkley on Friday 11th and Saturday 12th August, as well as exhibiting three recently completed pieces at the Ilkley Winter Gardens.

The event runs from 10am to 4pm, it should be a good show so please pop in and say hello!

I've acquired a new toy - a Hawthorn press!

It's taken a little fiddling around and experimentation to get the pressure right - experimenting with paper types and using Ternes Burton registration clips for the first time but I think I've got it sorted! This is my first serious effort with the press, it's a four colour reduction print of a Gyr.

Cwm Idwal in Snowdonia

I've just completed my latest lino print. It's of Cwm Idwal in Snowdonia. It's the result of a 'nostalgia' trip in the autumn to where I used to climb, many years ago, with my brother on Idwal Slabs. The path beneath the Slabs goes on up to the Devil's Kitchen. It's a 40cm x 30cms 10 colour reduction print and can be found on the 'Miscellaneous' page of my web site.
